A Character-Based Leadership View
This is absolutely not intended to be a political statement. It is about the consequences of poor decision-making.Single-handedly, this governor has shown a massive amount of ignorance about how transportation and interstate access is an absolute necessity to attract and retain and enable productive companies to ensure jobs. Oh yes and there is more. The amount of money, mind you, taxpayer money, down the drain is in the millions. The amount of money lost to industries and earned income through jobs and service industries and community development is in the billions. Great hopes for the area vanished overnight.
He showed that he did not understand how the Federal government picks up the major share of costs on projects like this because it affects both millions of dollars and millions of people…positively
Put aside the apparent, dramatic contention between the governor and the Congressional Budget Office on the costs of the tunnels. There may have been error and distortion that some have called lies. It could have been resolved quite easily if he wanted to make a good decision. Let’s just “forgeddaboudit”.
Yes the governor got to convey his great sense of confidence and stuck it to Obama and everyone else. Now he is being elevated to a lofty position as potential vice president on the Republican ticket with Governor Romney. It could be said, but not by me, that it was all political. His motivation doesn’t really matter to me. What matters is that his actions have damaged and deeply harmed a massive amount of people for many years to come. They could have contributed to the growth of this not too vigorous economy.
He Did Not Back Down At A Key Meeting This Week.
It was an ignorant and albeit a highly applauded reiteration of how to continue to stick it to the federal government by a “tough” governor who did an idiotic and counterproductive act. Will he do it again and more? It is highly likely.
No, this is not a political piece of side taking. The governor’s is a flagrant use of power. I hope the people of New Jersey will not let him get out of the state to avoid the high taxes.
Conservatives and Progressives United
Both?
Of course we can have both! Of course there will be some conflict. Yet the one thing we cannot have is a prosperous nation without having 90% of us earning and building and sustaining America against its massively and rapidly global competition with China that is removing us from the world stage. It appears permanent unless we pull together at last. It is never too late to do the right thing for all Americans.
Every time I thought there was a final straw emanating from China, it wasn’t. It was the continuation of a series of 20-year plans that have surpassed their own wildest imagination. This is the time for the end of blindness and the beginning of clear vision, followed by constructive actions for all stakeholders, now and in the future. It must be managed and led by character- based leaders who have the skills to pull us together.
Vapid Headlines
Newspaper headlines are conveying terrible stories. Columnists are writing optimistic and pessimistic scenarios. Almost all are relying on people like economists, bankers and elected politicians to explain the economy and its continuous malaise. They fail. Both Republicans and Democrats. However the biggest error of all is to be blaming President Obama for the lack of continuous and higher-paced growth. It is clear to the faintest observer, (not a compliment) who also wants to cloud the vision of the people who do not comprehend for one instant, the way the economy and the wealth of this nation has been maintained in the past. Yes both parties.
Yet The Republicans Are The Culprits
It is clear and simple that had the Republican majority in congress actually done the honorable work needed to really work with President Obma the Democrats would follow. The productive capacity and job growth of the USA would be much better. They failed Americans. They could have accelerated and resolved the real issues in a constructive way with intelligent laws. They were able, but did not separate opinions and their personal debt to those lobbyists and backers who got them there and rally to work for the 99%. We would be far ahead and look back enjoying the brief pain, in order to have attained a reasonably good life for our families and communities once again. It is now bleak.
Yet it is never too late to do the right thing. Almost too late if they don’t wake-up now before the 2012 election to stare down the Big Money.

How in the blazes did the USA get into the position that we haven’t enough professional workers educated in American schools and colleges and universities to actually fill available jobs? Deficiencies in Colleges and Universities
We currently do not have enough educated people to fill higher-paying jobs that are now available and will be available. Next, there are not now enough courses of study in most of the colleges and universities that used to prepare more of these people when there were jobs available. Now, again, there are jobs available and insufficient numbers and quality of well-trained and educated people. This is a major dilemma.
Deficiencies in Ideas
The solution and the goal are the same. The United States of America needs to solve the problem of the high cost of higher learning and graduate sufficient numbers and quality of people needed to do the work in the USA. If it isn’t a big enough task, just think about how we struggle to find simple solutions for small parts of the system required to have a stable and ever-growing economy with products and services that meet all needs of man. With slash and burn, and greedy leaders earning billions in this culture of No Risk Capitalism, there is only disaster ahead. Deficiencies in Build America First Thinking The USA and its leading institutions of learning have opened the doors and encouraged foreign students who get their degrees, do their research and return to their nations of origin. Now there is concern about how to keep these people in the United States to fill those jobs, those high level jobs that engineers and scientists educated in America once used to hold and cherish and then go on to contribute to the building of our great, innovative products.
The Proper Goal: The Utilization and Development of All Americans
Ideas are needed to reverse and sustain the process that does neither incent nor develop high talent people with the knowledge and skills for the jobs that are here. They also will be here in the future, despite massive global competition. With proper thinking of our business leaders and public policy makers we will win. Obviously, without talented and developed people, we cannot build products and industries. Can we? We have done it before. We can do it again and again if we want. I say all people. Many have or could have the craft or vitally needed skills to operate things, fix them or serve others. John Gardner once said, “We must learn to value our plumbers and our philosophers or we will have neither ideas nor pipes that will hold water.”

• Social Progress and Fiscal Conservation
• Military Strength and Homeland Security
• Peace and Progress
• Job Growth AND Tax Reform AND Profit
Ideas precede anything else. Ideas need to be Good, Right, Helpful, and Better for all Americans. Then when ideas emerge, obtaining revenue through taxes and incentives is proper. It cannot happen in reverse. This should be obvious, but it is not.
This plaintiff, clarion call goes out to all stakeholders. It is, stop fiddling… the nation and its people are burning right now.
